Who is behind the site

Vartill started with the same question the site tries to answer: where in Sweden should I live? The research felt too useful to stay in a private notebook, so it lives here instead. The site makes no money from your data and collects no personal information at all. If a figure looks wrong, or you have an idea for what the site should show, write to hej@vartill.se.

What we store

No user accounts, no tracking cookies, no personal data.

Vartill has no user accounts and sets no tracking cookies today. The only things saved in your browser (localStorage) are your saved favorites, small interface choices (such as your chosen map preset and which one-time tips you have already seen) and, where applicable, your choice in the consent banner. Your language choice is part of the web address (/en) and is not stored. This never leaves your device and counts as necessary storage under the ePrivacy rules.

What we don't do

We do not profile visitors. We never show data about individuals; all statistics on the site are aggregated area data from open sources (SCB, BRÅ, Boverket, the Police, OpenStreetMap). We never infer sensitive attributes such as religion or ethnicity about residents, we only show places (for example that a church or mosque exists in an area).

If something changes

If we introduce analytics or affiliate links with tracking, a consent banner will be shown before any such cookie is set, and this policy will be updated. Non-essential cookies are never set without your active consent.

Your rights

Since we do not collect personal data there is normally nothing to request or erase; you clear your favorites yourself via your browser settings. Questions? Contact details are on the About page. You always have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
